The six stops
1. Main entrance on Hüttenweg
The car park, bicycle stands, toilet, information map and the office labelled on the official plan are close together here. The historic entrance building introduces the restrained architecture of the grounds.
2. On-site information map
Compare fields 001 to 015 with your intended route. The map here is the best starting point when you already have a field reference.
3. Cemetery chapel
Heinrich Schweitzer’s chapel is the architectural focus. Notice how the building sits within level changes, paths and existing trees.
4. Western water point
The fountain illustrates the practical infrastructure within the woodland. It is not designated as drinking water.
5. Cross in the war-graves area
The wooden cross commemorates the victims of the war of 1939–45. Its surroundings form part of the wider remembrance of 288 victims of war and tyranny.
6. Am Hegewinkel entrance
The southern exit completes the tour and is clearly highlighted on the official plan. If you need to return to Hüttenweg, allow enough time before the seasonal closing hour.
